The brain has incredible abilities to heal itself. This is called “neuro-
plasticity.” We have learned many techniques to stimulate this process.
These techniques include: repetition of stimulation, practice of
movement, soft tissue mobilization, enriched environments, sensory
enhancement, exercise, mindful visualizations, relaxation, breathing
techniques, cognitive stimulation, and proper nutrition. Through a
combination of these principles we can encourage the brain to create
new neural pathways, become more efficient, use existing pathways in
new ways, and wake up silent areas of the brain.
Convincing the nervous system to change takes time and persistence but
it doesn’t have to be a chore. Enhancing the senses at the same time the
body is moving can make this process enjoyable and very rewarding.
The goal of my bodywork sessions is to help you move with more
freedom, feel more energetic, decrease pain and unwanted muscle tone,
and help you find balance and health as you live with your body’s situation.
